Syrsky Spoke Out About The Conflict With Fedorov And Apologized

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine urged people not to turn labor disputes into political confrontations.

Following the widespread public outcry surrounding the resignation of Mikhail Fedorov as defense minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky addressed rumors of a conflict and apologized.

This was reported by Charter97.org, citing Syrsky’s op-ed on Militarnyi.

According to Syrsky, it came as a surprise to him to hear about an alleged conflict with Fedorov. He noted that he had always viewed their relationship as strictly professional, despite differing positions on certain issues.

“It came as a surprise to me to learn that the minister and I had a conflict. I viewed our relationship as a professional one: involving complex issues and differing positions. That’s how it should be between two institutions during the Great War,” he wrote.

The Commander-in-Chief also addressed Fedorov.

“If I’ve offended anyone in any way: Mikhail Albertovich, I apologize. I can be harsh at times. But I ask both you and everyone who is now following this story with such interest: let’s focus not on the personal, but on the bigger picture—on victory,” Syrsky emphasized.

He stressed that no single person is more important than the state, and that attempts to reduce the war to a confrontation between individual officials only play into Russia’s hands.

“Ukraine is greater than Fedorov, Syrsky, and any one of us. Ukraine will prevail not because it has irreplaceable individuals, but because it has an army, institutions, and millions of people who are doing their jobs. Reducing this war to a confrontation between two individuals is the greatest favor we could do for the enemy,” the commander-in-chief noted.

According to Syrsky, he is also concerned that society is increasingly dividing into “Fedorov’s camp” and “Syrsky’s camp.” He emphasized that issues related to contracts, procurement, or mobilization are far more complex than discussions on social media and cannot be resolved with slogans.

Separately, the Commander-in-Chief emphasized that victory is secured, first and foremost, by daily work, not by public conflicts or information campaigns.

“And here’s a second point, from which everything I’m about to say follows: the war will be won by real work, not by the public drama surrounding it,” he concluded.
