Lithuanian Border Guards Shot Down A Drone Carrying Contraband Cigarettes That Had Flown In From Belarus

This is the 58th such drone to be intercepted since the beginning of the year.

In the Šalčininkai District, a drone that had flown in from Belarus carrying a thousand packs of Belarusian cigarettes was shot down—this is the 58th such drone intercepted since the beginning of the year, reports the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service.

The incident occurred near the village of Lishkunishkes. It is noted that, upon spotting a drone carrying cargo on a thermal imaging screen, border guards immediately deployed their anti-drone equipment, causing the UAV to land in a wooded area.

The two packages found contained two factory cartons of “Minsk Superslims” cigarettes. Their value is estimated at 5,510 euros.

The State Border Guard Service notes that in 2025, border guards intercepted 59 UAVs carrying contraband flying from Belarus, and 54 in 2024.
