A Massive Storm Has Hit The U.S.

Three states were hit the hardest.

A powerful northeaster (nor'easter) struck the U.S. East Coast this past weekend. One person died and four others were injured due to heavy rain and high winds, according to CNN citing data from September 27.

The states of New York, Massachusetts (particularly Boston), and New Jersey were hit the hardest. The downpours caused flooding that submerged homes and roads.

Gusts of wind toppled trees: a 56-year-old man was killed by one of them, according to the BBC. Children are among the injured.

According to CNN, about 500 flights were canceled due to the bad weather, and another 4,000 were delayed. On September 26, more than 110,000 homes and businesses were without power. In particular, more than 20,000 people in New York and Connecticut were without power. By Sunday, September 27, the number of customers without power in the Northeast had dropped to 80,000.

New Jersey Governor Miki Sherrill stated that dozens of people had to be evacuated due to flooding, and dozens more were rescued from cars and flooded roads. Authorities closed several highways in the region.
