Radosław Sikorski noted that Lukashenka is a personality with whom it is difficult to come to an agreement.

On April 30 representatives of the Belarusian opposition had a meeting with Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski in Warsaw.

“We expressed out opinion that in the dialogue of the European Union with Alyaksandr Lukashenka up to now dividends are received by Alyaksandar Lukashenka, and Europe gains nothing, while the democratic opposition of Belarus is at a minus,” the BelaPAN was informed by the leader of the United Civil party Anatol Lyabedzka. “We believe that all these developments demoralize the democratic forces and could even bring about their split”.

As said by the politician, Sikorski agreed that improvement of Lukashenka’s relations with the EU is connected with “great risks”.

“Foreign minister of Poland noted that Lukashenka is a person with whom it is hard to find understanding. However, to this point Europe is ready to risk and continue working with him,” Lyabedzka said.

The politician has also informed that the EU Eastern Partnership program was discussed at the meeting. “In particular, Sidorski agreed with a necessity to hold a meeting or a seminar to discuss instruments of the program’s realization. So far it is seen as a political framework document,” the UCP leader noted.

Among the participants of the meeting with Sikorski are the former presidential candidate Alyaksandr Kazulin, the leader of “For Freedom” movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich, the leader of the Belarusian Communist Party Syarhei Kalyakin, the deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front party Vintsuk Vyachorka, the chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic party (Hramada) Anatol Lyaukovich, the chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada Stanislau Shushkevich and co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party Paval Sevyarynets.
