The Belarusian ruler wore a strange and exotic uniform, which provoked indignation of military men, at the military parade on occasion of Victory Day on May 9.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka was dressed in a parade uniform with marshal’s insignia; his 6-year old son Kolya also wore military uniform. It is a known fact that the Belarusian dictator hasn’t received the rank of marshal. In his youth, he served in the army two times, during his compulsory military service in the border troops he got the rank of senior lieutenant, then he worked as a deputy commander for political affairs he received the rank of captain. Then he finished his military career. Lukashenka also hasn’t taken part in wars.
It should be noticed that presidents of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan are supreme commanders-in-chief of the national armies, but Dmitry Medvedev, Viktor Yanukovich, and Nursultan Nazarbayev don’t wear carnival uniform with marshal’s insignia.
People, who served in the army throughout their lives, call Lukashenka’s clothes clownish.
“As a military man, I am indignant. It is like placing a scarecrow in the field to scare birds. There are certain military ranks. Lukashenka has never been marshal. He invented these dummies for himself. How can he be a marshal? Why was Nicholas II of Russia just a colonel (he was assigned to a regiment)? I attitude towards the way he dresses up is strongly negative. Lukashenka defames himself and the whole country,” retired colonel Alyaksandr Kamarouski, an Afghan War veteran, told in an interview to charter97.org.
