The Republican Bar Association (RBA) discussed the working style of Alyaksandr Pylchanka, the chairman of the Minsk City Bar Association, and found it inacceptable.
Besides, the RBA has ruled out that Pylchanka cannot go on performing the duties of a chairman, the official website of the Ministry of Justice reports.
The members of the presidium also discussed the violations committed by certain lawyers of the Minsk City Bar Association and revealed during the inspection of the Ministry of Justice.
“As the RBA supposes, these violations in lawyers’ work are caused by the lack of control by the leadership of the Minsk City Bar Association over observing the law by lawyers and failure to take timely and appropriate measures of response to them,” the press service of the Ministry of Justice informs.
As BelaPAN news agency learned from Harry Pahanyaila, a lawyer at the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, the Republican Bar Association is not entitled to dismiss the chairman of the Minsk City Bar Association, as the latter is a self-governing organization, where a chairman is elected at a general meeting. Thus, a decision of re-election of Pylchanka can be taken only at a general meeting of the Minsk City Bar Association scheduled for March 19.
