One-armed Belarusian punished for applauding

109

Belarusian judges continue to demean themselves in the eyes of the world.

Participants of silent protests stand trial in Belarus. Some of them are imprisoned to 10-30 days, and others are punished by fines. Thus, a physically handicapped Kanstantsin was sentenced to a fine of Br 1 million 50 thousand (more than $200). The person who has one arm was found guilty of clapping hands in a public place, “Radio Svaboda” informs.

One of the witnesses told that the disabled person was clapping. The father of the defendant, who was present in the court room, could not tolerate that any more and stated: “How is it possible, when my son is a disabled person? He has an artificial arm.” “The judge listened to all that, and then hung her head and said: a fine of 1 million 50 thousand rubles,” Kanstantsin said.

We remind that every Wednesday “Revolution Though Social Networks” oppositional movement holds protest rallies at which citizens of Belarus gather together to express disapproval at actions of the regime. People assemble in the streets without flags, posters and slogans, do not urge to topple the regime. They express their dissatisfaction at the ruling regime by applause. During these rallies police detain dozens of people, many of which later are punished. Thus, on Wednesday in Minsk and in other Belarusian cities police detained about 400 persons. Law-enforcers in mufti acted brutally.
