Vaskovich to pay for KGB building again

Mother of a political prisoner, a member of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party Yauhen Vaskovich has received a letter from Mahilyou prison Nr 4.

In the letter from the colony where her son is kept it is said that she would have to pay down the debt for damage to the KGB, equal to Br 253,000, the press-service of the BCD reports.

However, this money had been paid during the trial. “Most likely, some documents have not been received by them. I think we would be able to clarify everything this week,” she noted.

At the same time, Rushaniya Vaskovich told that in the middle of March she received a letter with congratulations from her son. He wrote that everything was fine with him and asked to say hello to everyone.

It has become known that Yauhen Vaskovich is not allowed to be given the Yotvingian-English vocabulary which had been sent to him.

It was said by his grandmother, Tamara. As said by her, she sent that book by a registered mail to her grandson twice, but it was returned each time. However, he was given the money sent by her.

According to her, she also received a letter from Yauhen in March. No one except blood relatives get letters from him. In his letter the political prisoner asks to be sent religious books.

“Everything is alright, I have no health complaints,” he noted.

Yauhen also informed that he goes to the library in prison, he took War and Peace by Tolstoy and the White Guard by Bulgakov there. He stressed that it is much better in the prison than in the colony, as everything is based on trust there.

We remind that Yauhen Vaskovich was detained in Mahilyou on January 17, on the next day after his participation in the rally of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners. He was charged with attacking the KGB building in Babrujsk on October 16, 2010. No one was harmed by the attack, and real losses were equal to Br 253,000, and were settled. Despite that, the court of Babrujsk found Yauhen Vaskovich guilty of malicious hooliganism and intended damaging on an especially large scale and sentenced him to 7 years in a medium security penal colony.
