Ermakova Earns $1 Thousand

Head of the National Bank of Belarus Nadezhda Ermakova revealed her salary during a hot line in "Narodnaya Gazeta."

According to her, she earns $1 thousand or Br8.38 million in equivalent free of income tax. "But I have the relevant position and responsibility," said Ermakova.

She notes that the National Bank employees have not yet earned even $500. At the same time the National Bank seeks to ensure better salaries, Nadezhda Ermakova added.

"The wages of the NBB employees get increased by centralizing administrative functions and downsizing," said the head of the National Bank.

At the same time, she says, young professionals are applying to the National Bank for work. Some of them get jobs, but they are not many. "One should have certain experience in the banking system in order to work in such an institution as the National Bank. Nevertheless, promising young professionals are getting employed. It’s scheduled to hire 10 people this year," said Ermakova.

However, young professionals, who come to work in the National Bank, do not get any bonuses. Still, if people prove themselves, they can get a premium, said Nadezhda Ermakova.

Alexander Lukashenko said during the message to the Parliament and the people on May 8 that he gets a salary of about $2 thousand per month in equivalent. The Belarusian leader also noted that state employees of "a small neighboring country" receive up to $150 thousand a year, and it's not normal.
