Belarusian books distributor is demanded to pay fine

Ales Jaudakha needs help.

Before 18 March he has to pay a fine of more than $6.5 thousand. He was fined on the accusation of alleged illegal entrepreneurship. This is how the court qualified the dissemination of independent Belarusian language literature, Euroradio reports.

The distributor told what he faces in case of non-payment:

“The arrested property will be confiscated and auctioned. They will attempt to confiscate something else. According to the law, I have to pay the amount of the fine within a month since I was handed in the writ of execution. If I do not pay, then the property will be auctioned, the document will be sent to my work and they will take money from my salary in parts”.

Anyone willing to help may approach Jaudakha personally (ales.jaudacha@gmail.com). The distributor himself says that he went for help to human rights activists and is waiting for their assistance.

We would remind that Jaudakha’s problems started when he began disseminating the book “Young Front activists”. He was sentenced to a year of freedom limitation and a fine of almost 57 million roubles.
