Activists read Constitution at bus stops in Homel

8

On March 15, democratic activists from Homel went out to bus stops with the pocket constitution of 1994 printed with the Chase coat of arms.

“The democratic principles were best reflected in the 1994 Constitution in sovereign Belarus. The 1996 Constitution is not a new edition of the Main Law, but an amended constitution of the authoritarian system that hinders the free development of the country. We drew public attention to the fact that the constitutional rights should be observed in the country and the Constitution must be democratic and mustn't support the authoritarian regime,” the head of the regional UCP branch, Vasily Palyakou, said to Radio Svaboda.

Besides the Constitution, the activists read Narodnaya Volya newspaper.

Riot police officers were noticed at the bus stops, where the activists were reading the Constitution.
