1

A presentation of a collection of literary articles and essays “Lightened by Belarusianism” took place on 6 March.

It was arranged in the office of BPF party, Nasha Niva reports. A poet Siarhei Sys was the host of the presentation.

The event opened with a showing of a film about the activities of the human rights center Viasna and its leader.

Barys Piatrovich, a former editor-in-chief of the Literature and Arts weekly, told in detail about Ales Bialatski’s successes in literature critique. Bialatski had a literature column in the magazine and published literature reviews in 1990-ies.

Uladzimir Niakliaeu, Siarhei Dubavec, Plina Stsepanenka, Ihar Babkou and Uladzimir Arlou also made speeches at the event.

We would remind that in November 2011 Ales Bialatski was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for alleged concealment of incomes from abroad. The human rights activist did not acknowledge the guilt. He told during the trial that the money was provided for supporting the regime’s victims.

Literary articles and essays, written by Bialatski at large and in custody, were included in the book.
