European officials to be allowed contacts with dictator?

Officials of the Council of Europe can be allowed to have contacts with the Belarusian authorities.

The leader of the United Civil Party, Anatol Lyabedzka, speaks about the possibility of new unilateral liberalisation, Euroradio reports.

“I have information that the ban on contacts of top officials of the Council of Europe and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe with the Belarusian authorities will be lifted. This is a kind of liberalisation,” the politician said.

The politician doesn't understand what caused such moods in the EU. It would look logical if the authorities had made steps towards closer relations and released all political prisoners. If it is yet another attempt of the EU to take the first step towards official Minsk, like previous ones, it won't be successful, the politician is confident.
