African swine fever detected in Vaukavysk district

An ASF outbreak has been detected in the village of Danilautsy on the stud farm “Ross”.

The outbreak was caused by workers, who brought straw from the field where a dead wild boar was found, the website volkovysk.by reports.

The local authorities strengthen control over raising backyard pigs. Residents of some villages in the district were ordered to slaughter their pigs. African swine fever is a serious disease that can cause great economic harm taking into consideration that agriculture is the main source of income in the Vaukavysk region.

We remind that the first ASF outbreak in Belarus was registered in the Hrodna region in June. The investigation revealed that the virus was brought in the country with animal feed from Russia. Several outbreaks were later detected across Belarus. Raising backyard within a radius of 5 km of pig complexes was forbidden in late July.
