Wages at MAZ plant have not been paid for 2 months already.

It was informed by a reader of charter97.org.

“I can confirm that it is really so, there is a pay pause at MAZ. The senior management of our department recommended spinning out the money given to at least 3 weeks. That is, the next part is to be paid not earlier than in 3 weeks. And besides, the situation is as following: about 400-500 items of machinery are manufactured in a month (trucks, buses and trailers), while nor more than 50-60 items are sold. And moreover, the very few of buyers give real money for their purchases.

The situation at the enterprises which are a part of Belavtomaz holding, the situation is deplorable. DEMZ (Dzyarzhynsk), KZTSH (Zhodzina) do not pay wages for more than 2 months, and backdated wages have been taking place for more than half a year. The bank has already distrained property of this plant as a pledge when a credit for wages was issued. So the “vessel” has burst. The economy returned into a state from which our combed-over leader had received it in 1994. The vicious circle of incompetent ruling of the rootless dictator has been closed,” the reader writes.

The senior management of MAZ denied comment to charter97.org, however earlier numerous employees of the plant informed about problems at the plant.

Recently Lukashenka visited the enterprise, and a five-day week was returned to it temporarily.

We remind that since the beginning of the year MAZ was working four days a week. From April 1 to 6 truck manufacturing at the enterprise was stopped. Earlier workers manufacturing buses were given unpaid leaves for two weeks. In the situation when workers of the plant are given two thirds of their wages. In the beginning of April the wages of MAZ workers was Br3-4 million (contracted personnel) to Br6 mln (on agreement basis).
