Many of us loved in childhood the anecdote about a giraffe, which was slow on the draw. At that time we had no idea, what kind of people there would be in our country’s government.

The prime minister said on Thursday that Belarus should switch from currently prevailing foreign credit resources to a full-fledged inflow of foreign direct investment.

– For this purpose we need to orient our investment policy on concrete investors, understand their expectations and possible fears,Andrei Kabiakou said at the opening of the forum “Broadening the Horizons: Investment, Finance, Development.”

Hallelujah! Finally!

Many of us loved in childhood the anecdote about a giraffe, which was slow on the draw. At that time we had no idea, what kind of people there would be in our country’s government.

A few days ago it was announced that the authorities are ready to sell Krynitsa to a strategic investor. The one, that Russian Baltika wanted to buy 15 years ago.

While the negotiations were on, the investors managed to pour into the modernization of the Belarusian enterprise 10 million dollars and were ready to allocate another 40. But at the last moment they were left high and dry by spelling out in the proposed draft treaty some murderous conditions, which Baltika couldn’t agree to.

What striking results have the giants of thought in our country’s government finally achieved? Except that Krynitsa has been working with impressive losses in recent years?

And now, after 15 years, they decided to get rid of the enterprise. The only question is, where to find an investor, who would not know, how his predecessor has been done by.

However, this does not negate the correctness of Andrei Kabiakou’s statement on moving from foreign credits to the inflow of direct investments. Thanks, Captain Obvious!

It’s frightening, how much time it takes our country's leadership to come to obvious conclusions. If it took 15 years to come to “we have to do it,” then how much time will it take to get to “we have done it?”
