Road Charge Payment Is To Be Controlled Via Camera-Traps

The authorities want to monitor more closely the payment of taxes by drivers.

It was reported by chairman of the permanent commission of the "house of representatives" on industry, fuel and energy complex, transport and communications Andrei Rybak.

The "deputies" worked out the changes together with representatives of interested state bodies, BelTA writes.

– One of the most interesting versions is, in my opinion, the proposal is to untie the payment of the state duty from the technical inspection and pay it as a separate payment. But this is still a draft, no decisions have yet been made on this matter," – Andrei Rybak said.

There were other options. There were ideas to change the frequency of passing the motor vehicle inspection. Or to tie the duty to the voluntary insurance.

– When we tied the state duty to the technical inspection, a number of problems appeared. People pass it once a year and pay the fee for a year as well. Then the questions arise: what if I do not drive for a whole year; and what if I want to sell the car or take a car in leasing; and maybe I just cannot pay this year amount at once? We started from consideration of these problems, – Andrei Rybak explained, why they had decided to deal seriously with that issue.

If the reforms are approved, then the duty can be paid for a certain period, and not for a whole year.

– For example, a person plans to sell a car – that means, he pays for a month, if he has not sold it – pays for another month. And it will be more flexible, although there are certain risks in this system. The main question is how can this be controlled? We stopped at such a variant as photo fixing, which is to be developed more actively in Belarus, – Andrei Rybak said.
