How MTS Deceives Its Clients

Please read this and tell everyone who uses the “Pension” tariff.

Belarusian journalist Adarya Hurshtyn has written the following at her Facebook page:

“A relative of mine lost Bn 60 for having browsed something in the internet while on roaming, without knowing it. It is possible when the wifi connection breaks, and you forgot to switch on the “mobile data”.

Of course, if you are an experienced user, things like this seem unlikely to happen to you. However, it’s highly possible when you use the “pension” tariff. I was surprised that it was possible to accumulate such a big debt (6 MB of traffic has accumulated in 3 days). You can’t imagine just how shocked I was when I found out that this “pension” tariff prescribes up to Bn 121 of debt – this equals to the subscriber’s fee for 170 years. Moreover, it’s impossible to restrict this limit!

My relative tried to do it preliminarily at the MTS office. “The system calculates it by itself, it’s impossible to diminish the limit,” – they told her. A client, however, has not a single clue about this when subscribes. My relative, for instance, found this out from us. While you are on a roaming, the debt will “catch” you in a few days, which is, you don’t see the actual balance straightaway. Whom is it aimed at?

It is aimed at a person, who has poor knowledge of the technical issues (a pensioner, a schooler etc.) or at a person who has no intention of paying their bills (a drunkard, for instance – it’s the relatives who will pay their debts through the debt collectors or through the court later).

What did it remind me of? The 5-minutes loans, available to even the ultimate rundums. The same principle. I think the MTS could earn more openly and fairly. Such deception may help to grab some money fast, but it will lead to the reputation of a huckster, not a serious company. It’s not a problem to pay the debt. It’s just, who will want to be a client of a huckster?
