Lukashenka returns to where he started

Long-term rule of the dictator led to a crash and burn.

The next message of Aliaksandr Lukashenka to the Belarusian people gave neither a set of aphorisms, nor a pinch of optimism. Moreover, as it follows from the words of the dictator, the country is practically in the same state as it was before his coming to power, Salidarnasts writes.

In today's world, it's easy to forget what happened last week, not to mention the details of events that took place more than 20 years ago. Therefore, it is worth recalling what program Lukashenka had while going to the elections in 1994. This time we will limit ourselves to its title: "Take the people away from the abyss".

This task has long been declared solved. Moreover, over the years, the authorities have been convincing us that Belarus has become "strong" and "stable." And "temporary difficulties", which have been going on at least since 2011, Lukashenka explained by the world crisis. And the "unique Belarusian model" itself, like Caesar's wife, was officially out of suspicion.

And suddenly, making a speach, the ruler declares:

"We are at the most dangerous line, which we cannot cross by retreating. If we do not make at least half a step forward, I'm even afraid to say what can happen."

In fact, this means that as a result of the 23-year-old Lukashenka's rule, the country returned to "point A" and again found itself on the brink of an abyss instead of coming to the station "Prosperity".

Therefore, there is no reason to expect that the situation will radically change for the better in the future: if almost a quarter of a century was not enough for the current leader of Belarus to at least take the state away from the abyss to a sufficient distance, then another 5-10 years, too, will make no difference. Especially considering that, as it was correctly noted, "the Belarusian authorities have made a nest in this very "dangerous line" and began to settle there."
