The power provokes people to mass civil disobedience actions.

Trade union leaders, deputy chairman of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions Siarhei Antusevich and activist of the REP independent trade union Andrei Stryzhak have told about it to the belaruspartisan.org website.

"If we depart from the legislation and consider the spontaneous demonstrations of the workers of the last time as a strike, then in fact the only reason, that has forced the workers to take this step, is the non-payment of wages.

Such demonstrations are possible only unless and until there is a sharp deterioration of working conditions and ignoring or impossibility to resolve issues by the administration of the enterprise (institution).

Individual strikes with the existing system of labor relations in Belarus are unlikely, since a person is bound by the terms of the contract and can be dismissed if he refuses to work without grounds.

Therefore, only mass civil disobedience actions can lead to the fulfillment of the democratic forces’ certain requirements," – Siarhei Antusevich believes.

"Today the authorities with all their efforts are tying people to their workplaces, are trying to get people back into the line when a person treasures his work and is afraid to lose it. Now it is difficult to say how the situation will develop further, especially when it became known that Lukashenka and Putin agreed on money. The success of any protest actions will depend on our social and economic situation. Now we do not see any serious prerequisites for its improvement. Therefore, my forecast is as follows: by the end of this year, we can expect interesting events that could lead to changes in the country. It’s not that it will be something momentary, but the situation is gradually changing," – Andrei Stryzhak said.
