Having served in Belarus for 28 years, after creating from scratch the Homel Catholic Diocese, the Catholic priest had to leave for Poland.

Co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Vital Rymasheuski criticized the fact that the Belarusian authorities refused to grant Belarusian citizenship to the Catholic priest from Homel Slavomir Laskovsky, the website bchd.info reports.

After 28 years of service, he left our country and returned to his homeland in Poland, although 5 years ago he applied for the citizenship of the Republic of Belarus.

"Why do they grant Belarusian citizenship to Bakiyev and deny those, who have served God and Belarusians for 28 years? !! The authorities have actually expelled one of the best Catholic priests from the country. Through his ministry, Father Slavomir helped people and simplified the work to the state, which cannot properly fulfill its social duties. He helped the destitute, the poor, the disabled children ... Why was he denied citizenship? Where is the logic? This is not logic – it's spirit. The spirit of contempt for ordinary people, the spirit of lies and hypocrisy, which the Belarusian authorities live in, it hates, does not tolerate such as Father Slavomir. After all, the father lovingly served and exalted those, whom the Belarusian authorities seek to destroy, humiliate or simply ignore – drug addicts, alcoholics, homeless people, disabled children. Why was he expelled? Simply because he was a silent reproach to those who are to serve the people as well, but who humiliate and rob them instead," – the BCD co-chairman noted.

Vital Rymasheuski also thanked Father Slavomir for "being in use of Lord in Homel", apologized for the fact that "the Belarusians are not able yet to take in and protect," and wished him God's blessing in everything.

A thousand believers came to see off the priest, who actually created from scratch the Homel Catholic eparchy.
