As it became known to the human rights center Viasna, on August 9, the consideration of the administrative case under the Part 3 of the Art. 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses against one of the leaders of the Belarusian National Congress Mikalai Statkevich for participating in the peaceful protest on July 3, was held in the court of the Leninski district of Minsk.

Judge Yulia Kaviaka considered the case in absentee, Mikalai Statkevich received the court verdict by mail.

According to the court's decision, the opposition politician’s guilt is "proved" by the testimony of police witnesses A. Kazlou and M. Ryzhankou, the written materials of the case. He was found guilty of "active participation in the rally in a group of citizens without the permission of the Minsk City Executive Committee" on July 3 at Kastrychnitskaya square in Minsk, for abolishing military exercises West-2017 and releasing the political prisoners.

The judge issued a decision to detain Mikalai Statkevich for 15 days, which will be counted from the moment of detention. So far, the politician is at large.

In addition, only now it became known that on July 5, judge Natallia Drachova of the Savietski district court of Minsk fined Mikalai Statkevich 50 basic units for taking part in the rally at the Military Cemetery on May 8 (Part 3, Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code).
