Andrei Byalyauski is accused of "illegal possession" of a cartridge.

On January 11 the Leninski District Court starts the consideration of the criminal case against the Minsk artist-designer Andrei Byalyauski, HRC Viasna informs.

The criminal case is caused by the possession of one cartridge. The service cartridge for AK-47 Assault Rifle was found during the search after the Byalyauski's detention with regard to the so-called "Patriots' Case" in March 2017. During the interrogation he said that it was a souvenir and pleaded guilty.

On December 12, the Investigative Committee served charges on the patriot under Art. 295, para 1 "Illegal production, acquisition, possession, transportation, or carrying of firearms, ammunition, explosives". According to this Article, he may face up to five years of deprivation of liberty or imprisonment up to seven years with or without confiscation of property, or manual labour up to two years. The case is submitted to the Leninski District Court of Minsk.
