Woman Could Have Become BPR Government Head

Very often Belarusian women-patriots performed men's functions both in intelligence and in cultural work.

Although many women sacrificed themselves for the Belarusian cause at the time when the Belarusian People’s Republic was created, they had no place in politics. Nevertheless, they fought for the creation of the first national state together with men, the founders of BPR, Belsat reports.

Ales Kirkevich, a journalist and writer, says:

“Very often, these women performed men’s functions, both in intelligence and in cultural work. Obviously, by risking their lives. And they wore the ball and chain after that.”
