Russian Ambassador Dmitry Mezentsev has arrived in the Belarusian capital, where he will present copies of credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs Uladzimir Makei in the coming days, tut.by reports with reference to Sputnik.
According to the media, Dmitry Mezentsev arrived in Minsk on Sunday, June 2.
We remind that on April 30, it became known that the Kremlin was changing its ambassador to Minsk, Mikhail Babich. Senator Dmitry Mezentsev was appointed to replace Babich.
Russian experts call the senator "a man from President Vladimir Putin's personal personnel reserve" – he's been near the Russian president since the 1990s, since St. Petersburg. Mezentsev has a very diverse experience, including that of the SCO Secretary General. On May 23, Foreign Minister of Belarus Uladzimir Makei said that he would meet with Mezentsev immediately upon his arrival, and all the necessary formalities related to the appointment of the ambassador had been fulfilled.
