Large Plant Worker: Over 10% Of Good Specialists Being Fired According To Lists

How does it feel to work at state enterprises now?

Another wave of repressions and political dismissals is underway in Belarus. A worker of a large state-owned plant shared the atmosphere that prevails at the enterprise, writes the BOR Telegram channel.

“I am a worker of one of the Minsk factories. Every day one or two people are taken from our workplace. It is unbearable to work in this atmosphere - everyone is mainly discussing and worrying, and not working. I feel like in a memoir about the occupation of Belarus by the Nazis or at the peak of Stalin's repressions.

In the smoking-room, all the talk about these arrests. You go to smoke and think that maybe they will come for you now, but you've had a smoke, it's already better. I saw today some masked people taking a man out. All this, of course, is scary and it is not clear why this is necessary and who is better off living in such an atmosphere.

And the lists came, and I learned that more than 10% of our people are being fired, many of whom are good specialists and stayed with the plant in difficult times. Do these siloviki and bureaucrats really have no conscience, don’t they care about our enterprises? And then on TV they always say that they stand in defense of industry, and Lukashenka says so, but it turns out that they do not need this industry.

In a nutshell, I don’t know how to live, prices are going up, but there’s no salary, so there’s this horror too. There is no point in waiting for some kind of savior from the outside. Everything is solely in our hands and we ourselves are capable of changing the country. When the people of Belarus understand this, then everything will change.”
