Opera Singer Ilya Silchukou: Tectonic Changes Will Take Place In Belarus In 2022

We see Belarusian DNA all over the world.

The well-known Belarusian opera singer Illya Silchukou told Radio Svaboda that next year “tectonic changes” will take place in Belarus, and urged Belarusians not to lose hope:

- Anything that is aimed at regression and repression has no future.

Life requires decisions that would facilitate development and dialogue, which is impossible now, when the position of one of the parties is aimed at repression. The future belongs to a free Belarus.

I have no despair: they say, nothing will ever happen. It will. And my personal forecast is that during the next year, even before winter, obvious tectonic changes will already take place in our society.

Previously, there were no centers of Belarusian national culture, not only in the world, but even in ourselves. Now we see the cultural environment and Belarusian DNA all over the world. This is all the result of processes within Belarus. And this is a very high level civil society response.

Everyone thought that in a month or two, people would stop coming out, stop sending letters to political prisoners, and this has been going on for the second year already, and the process is only gaining momentum. I am sure that this is the future. Now the DNA of the nation is being laid.
