Belarusian Propagandists, Judges, Officials Will Have To Change Their Appearance

The Cockroach signed a law to amend the law “On state protection of judges, officials of law-enforcement and regulatory (supervisory) bodies, and employees of the state security body”. The document, which was previously adopted by the “chamber” and approved by the so-called council of the republic, is registered in the National Register of Legal Acts, BelTA informs.

The updated law expands the circle of persons subject to state protection. It includes servicemen of the Armed Forces, other troops and military formations in cases of fulfilling their duties to protect public order; employees of the Cockroach’s Security Service, and the Operative Analytical Center under the aegis of the President of Belarus; other persons in the event of an encroachment on their safety; and relatives of the above-mentioned persons.

Thus, protection measures can be applied to any person who is in danger in connection with his or her official activities, including government officials, judges, media workers, members of election commissions, other persons, as well as their relatives.

Also, the law establishes the possibility of applying measures of state protection also in the absence of an immediate threat of encroachment on the life, health and property of protected persons; the procedure for applying certain measures of state protection is improved. So, for example, the possibility of changing the appearance of not only the protected person, but also their relatives is introduced. The basis for the application of security measures in the form of ensuring the confidentiality of information may be the entry or appointment of the protected person to the position, their being on the position.

The main provisions of the law come into force one month after its official publication.
