Power Of Solidarity: Belarusians Raise $ 131,000 For Restoration Of Budslau Church In 5 Days

The Belarusian diaspora abroad also provides support.

330,033 rubles were collected for the restoration of the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Budslau (Myadzel district of the Minsk region), which was damaged by the fire, according to the data on the parish website, naviny.by reports.

In addition, as part of a fundraising campaign for the restoration of the national sanctuary launched by the Belarusian community in Poland on the internet platform zrzutka.pl, 4,611 zlotys ($ 1,236) were raised. The initiators set a goal to collect 30 K zlotys (about 8 thousand dollars). The campaign ends in a week.

The Telegram channel "Let's restore Budslau together!", created to coordinate volunteers who want to help in eliminating the consequences of the incident, reports that on May 17, cleaning of the church roof will continue, where "there is still a lot of ashes and small rummage."

According to the Telegram channel, on May 12, permission was obtained to dismantle the remains of the roof. By the next day, the burnt parts inside the church were dismantled, the coals were removed, altars and wooden benches were raised on stands to dry, and measures were taken to dry the organ. On May 14, moisture controllers were installed in the church, on May 15 - they cleared the roof of large debris, cleared the bedside area of ashes, coal and technical debris, and added additional fences around the sanctuary.

As reported, the church's roof collapsed as a result of the inflammation. The shrine and property were successfully taken out of the fire. The Conference of Catholic Bishops of Belarus appealed to believers for help in rebuilding the church.
