Belarusian Case in the Hague: A Lawsuit Is Filed against Lukashenka under the Article "Crimes against Humanity"

The Belarus Women's Foundation is filing a claim with the International Criminal Court in The Hague against the citizen of the Republic of Belarus A.R. Lukashenka under the article “crimes against humanity.”

Even the states of the anti-Hitler coalition during the period of the military tribunal over the Nazis attributed murder, enslavement, exile, and other persecutions for political reasons to "crimes against humanity".

1. Murders.

After massive protests related to the arrest of opposition leaders, the refusal to register the most popular politicians, as well as election fraud, dozens of people were reported missing. Someone was found hanged, someone “committed suicide” at the scene of clashes with the police.

Among the dead, there is incontrovertible evidence of the murder of the following Belarusian citizens: Aliaksandr Taraikouski, Aliaksandr Vikhor, Artsiom Parukou, Henadz Shutau, Kanstantsin Shyshmakou, Dzianis Kuzniatsou, and Raman Bandarenka. Criminal cases on the facts of these killings have not been opened.

There is incontrovertible evidence that Lukashenka personally gave an order to use "the most severe measures" against civilians and, therefore, covers up the executors of criminal orders.

2. Enforced disappearance of people.

In 1998, by order of Lukashenka, the former Minister of Internal Affairs, the chairman of the officers' union Yury Zakharanka, the chairman of the Central Election Commission Viktar Hanchar, businessman Anatol Krasouski, and also the cameraman of Russian television Dzmitry Zavadski were killed.

Lukashenka fully admitted his guilt, stating that he personally “gave the command to destroy these “scoundrels.” We are talking about the actions of the so-called "death squad" created by his order - a group of law enforcement officers who were engaged in the physical liquidation without trial and investigation of both crime bosses and opposition figures.

Separately, it is worth noting the murder of the opposition Belarusian journalist Pavel Sharamet on the territory of Ukraine by employees of the Belarusian special services, about which there is a recording of the conversation of the former head of the KGB Zaitsau, who can be summoned to the Court as a witness to testify against the main customer of the murder of the Belarusian journalist.

It should be noted that, since 2014, Ukraine has accepted the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. This gives the right to initiate a criminal case in a court of international jurisdiction against citizen Lukashenka, since the murder of a Belarusian opposition journalist was committed in 2016 on the territory of a state that recognizes the jurisdiction of the ICC for crimes that were committed on its territory after February 20, 2014.

3. Deportation.

After rigged elections outside the territory of the Republic of Belarus, hundreds of thousands of citizens were forced to leave the country, fearing persecution by the regime.

4. Imprisonment or other unjustified deprivation of physical freedom.

During the protests in Belarus, over 35 thousand people passed through prisons, which is the largest figure in Europe in the period after the Second World War.

5. Torture or other acts of willful infliction of great suffering or serious bodily harm.
