A Police Colonel Who Suppressed Popular Protests In Brest Was Found Hanged

The body was found by his son in the woods.

The BYPOL initiative reported on the suicide of the ex-head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee:

Against the background of unprecedented mass repressions against representatives of civil society in Belarus, tightening of the screws continues in the power bloc, which, as the propagandists would not like, cannot be placed in a kind of social vacuum. The psychological pressure on employees increases daily, both on current and former employees.

Even those who harshly and unscrupulously suppressed peaceful protests come to realize what they have done.

Today we received information that a retired police colonel, former head of the department of law enforcement and prevention of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Vaitovich Henadz Vasilevich, born on August 10, 1970, has recently committed suicide by hanging. It was he, as the head of the OPP, who was responsible for the suppression of the popular protest in Brest and the Brest region.

About Vaitovich H.V., it is known that he retired at the end of 2020, but he did not find himself in civilian life. He was found by his son (an officer of the Leninski District Department of Internal Affairs of Brest) hanging on a trouser belt in a forest belt. By his convictions, he sincerely supported the regime."
