"Lukashenka's Doing": European Parliament Reacts to Death of Head of Belarusian House in Ukraine

The regime has committed another act of international terrorism.

MEPs, who were first to respond to the murder of Vitaly Shishov<>/b, the head of the Belarusian House in Ukraine, believe that Aliaksandr Lukashenka's regime stands behind it.

European Pravda reports that.

"Another nightmare. Nobody is safe. Lukashenka is killing his own people. This time in Ukraine," wrote German MP Viola von Cramon.

"Killing of Belarusian citizen Vitaliy Shishov, head of the NGO Belarusian House in Ukraine, is another act of international terrorism of the Lukashenka regime," said Lithuanian MEP Petras Austrevicius.

He recalled the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet in 2016 and added that, in his opinion, the Belarusian special services were also behind it.

As Ukrayinska Pravda earlier reported, chairman of the Belarusian House in Ukraine Vitaliy Shyshov, who disappeared in Kyiv on 2 August, was found hanged in a park in the capital. The police say they have opened criminal proceedings under the article "willful murder", but will check all versions.

Shishov's colleagues from the Belarusian House said that Vitaliy was being pursued and the police knew about it.

The organization believes that Shishov's death was "a planned operation by the Chekists to eliminate a dangerous Belarusian for the regime" and said it would continue to seek the truth in Vitaliy's death.

Shishov stood behind the establishment of the Belarusian House in Ukraine. He moved to Ukraine in the autumn of 2020 - after he went out to protests in Homel in August and continued to actively oppose the Lukashenka regime.

At the Belarusian House, Vitaliy helped Belarusians who moved to Ukraine, organised actions against the Lukashenka regime, and appealed to state bodies to promote bills to help his compatriots.
