The occupiers were pushed outside the urban area.
Tense fighting continues in the area northeast of Soledar, along the Bakhmut-Lysychansk road. However, Russian media sources report that there is "no good news" from the Bakhmut side - the Wagner units have been pushed back to the positions they held a few days ago, stopcor.org reports.
This was also revealed from Igor Strelkov-Girkin's statement on Telegram.
"There is no good news from the front. From those voiced in the media, the Wagner units have been pushed back to the positions they held a few days ago in Bakhmut. In fact, they were forced out of the outskirts of the urban area back into the rubbish dumps and the industrial zone. There are sluggish attempts to attack in Avdiivka and Maryinka directions," he reports.
In addition, Ukrainian military correspondent Konstantin Mashovets also comments on the situation in Bakhmut.
"In the area north-east of Soledar, along the Bakhmut-Lysychansk road, intense fighting continues. The enemy is obviously trying to provide a more or less reliable supply and delivery route for its forward units, which have entrenched themselves near Yakivlivka. After all, the village is essentially located on the T1302 Bakhmut-Lysychansk highway, with no other paved roads around it. Therefore, in conditions of winter warming, it is simply impossible to deliver anything significant, or even to bring the machinery to this section by another way, for example, through Vladimirivka, or Tripole," informs the expert.
As Mashovets adds, the Wagner units and the Donetsk and Lugansk mobilized are not very suitable for high-intensity combat in urban areas. Especially when they have to attack. They do this rather clumsily, again relying on masses and continuity, almost as much as they do in open terrain.
It should be noted that all the represented units, although formally considered "battalions", are in fact considerably understaffed. As a result of losses and numerous refusals of personnel to carry out combat missions, these units correspond to units of the level of companies.
The defeat of Wagner PMC units in Bakhmut was officially confirmed by the AFU's StratCom, which published the relevant video.
