Lavrov Flew to Beijing But Suddenly Diverted Board to Moscow

China refused to host the Russian foreign minister?

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was on his way to Beijing on Thursday night, but failed to reach China, according to the German Bild edition.

The plane of the Russian minister had managed to cover 2,800 kilometres of a nearly 6,000-kilometre journey when it was decided to return to Moscow. It happened in the region of Novosibirsk.

The world is now wondering, writes Das Bild, whether Beijing has not received Foreign Minister Putin, or whether Putin has recalled him, because the house in Moscow is on fire".

Let's recall that a few days ago, the US press wrote that Moscow had asked Beijing for help - financial and military. On 14 March, US presidential national security adviser Jake Sullivan met in Rome with Chinese diplomat and Communist Party Politburo member Yang Jiechi to warn him of the serious consequences if military aid to Russia was given.

The Washington Post published an article the other day by China's ambassador to the US, Qin Gang. The Chinese diplomat says Russia's war with Ukraine was not good for China and Beijing was not aware of Russia's intentions.

"If China had known about the imminent crisis, we would have done everything possible to prevent it," the ambassador said.

The day before, China's representative to Ukraine Fan Xianrong said at a meeting in the Lviv regional military administration that China would never attack Ukraine but support it.

"In the situation we have now, we will act responsibly. We have seen how great is the unity of the Ukrainian people and therefore their strength," the diplomat said.
