Preliminary Cause Of Helicopter Crash In Brovary Announced

The helicopter was flying over the kindergarten building in the fog.

Today, on January 18, early in the morning, an emergency occurred on the territory of one of the kindergartens in Brovary.

A Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma helicopter from the State Emergency Service crashed. As a result, 17 people died, including the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, his deputy and the secretary of state.

Journalist Andriy Tsaplienko, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, said, that the preliminary cause of the tragedy was pilot error.

Head of the Kyiv regional military administration Oleksiy Kuleba confirmed the death of the entire top leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and also said that as of 10.30 am the number of victims was 18 people, including three children.

There were only 9 people on board the plane, including Denys Monastyrsky, Yevhen Yenin and Yuri Lubkovich. 29 people were injured, including 15 children.

The helicopter flew on a mission in the fog. Most likely, the pilot lost control, brushed against the roof of the kindergarten building, and the helicopter fell down.

It is also possible that, because of the constant power outage, the flashing beacons for the pilots of helicopters and aircraft were not lit on the roof of the building and the kindergarten.

The official reason has not yet been announced. Rescuers and ambulance staff are working at the tragedy site. Also, footage was published on the Internet showing perhaps the same helicopter that fell on the territory of Brovary.
