Israel Formally Declares War

Clause 40 Aleph was enacted.

The Security Cabinet of Israel voted to enact clause 40 Aleph, which means a formal declaration of war. The military has the right to act at its own discretion but communicate to the top administration.

The last time something like this happened was exactly 50 years ago, in 1973, during the Yom Kippur War.

The Palestinian group Hamas launched missile attacks on Israel on Saturday morning, October 7. Israel also reported the infiltration of hundreds of Hamas militants into its territory.

Israel announced the start of the Operation Iron Swords following the situation. In turn, Hamas announced the start of the Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
