President Joe Biden called it "blackmail."

The bill to provide aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan failed to pass a procedural vote in the Senate of the US Congress, the ВВС reports.

The initiative envisaged the allocation of a $106 billion aid package, including $61 billion of which was intended for Ukraine.

In order to bring the bill to a vote, it had to receive at least 60 out of 100 votes. "Only 49 senators voted in favour. Thus, the document failed to get the 60 votes needed in order to have a chance to be discussed.

All Republicans and independent Senator Bernie Sanders voted against the bill.

US President Joe Biden, commenting on the failure of the procedural vote in the US Senate on aid to Ukraine, called it "political blackmail".

Commenting on the Republican Party's refusal to support in Congress the bill to provide additional money for national security, which provides for aid to Ukraine, Biden said the stakes were too high.

"Republicans in Congress are threatening to cut off support for Ukraine if they fail to push through their extremely biased border policy. This is political blackmail, pure and simple. The stakes are too high and the consequences are too significant for political games," he wrote on the X social network (Twitter).
