Russia Officially Confirms Prigozhin’s Death

The Investigative Committee has completed the molecular genetic examinations.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation confirmed the death of the founder of Wagner Group Yevgeny Prigozhin in a plane crash.

All ten people who died in a plane crash in the Tver region, the founder of Wagner Group Yevgeny Prigozhin has been identified, according to the Investigative Committee.

They completed molecular genetic examinations.

“According to the results, the identity of all 10 dead people has been established matching the passenger flight list,” the report reads.

According to the airline and as reported by the Federal Agency for Air Transport, the list of passengers of the crashed plane was as follows:

Yevgeny Prigozhin - the Wagner Group Founder;

Dmitry Utkin - the Wagner Group Commander;

Sergiy Propustin - included in the Ukrainian Myrotvorets (“Peacemaker”) database as a reconnaissance grenade launcher at the Wagner Group;

Yevgeny Makaryan - included in the Ukrainian Myrotvorets (“Peacemaker”) database as fighter at the Wagner Group;

Alexander Totmin - according to the Myrotvorets, participated in hostilities in Sudan;

Valery Chekalov - according to SPARK, he is the general director of CJSC Neva. Fontanka wrote that Neva became the owner of the Europolis company associated with Prigozhin. According to the publication, Prigozhin came to an agreement with the Syrian government in 2016. He was to release the country from militants and protect the country's oil and gas fields, and in return received contracts for the production of a quarter of the hydrocarbons received from them. Europolis is under EU sanctions, the justification of Brussels said that it is associated with the Wagner Group. Also, Chekalov came under personal US sanctions in July for his links to Prigozhin, according to the US Department of Justice.
