Kilometre Long Queue Standing In Minsk City Centre For Several Days

What's going on there?

A huge queue, which stretches for a kilometre, has been observed in the centre of Minsk, on Niamiha, for several days. These are those wishing to worship important Orthodox relics, including the belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which were brought to the Holy Spirit Cathedral, reports zerkalo.io with reference to the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

According to tradition, the Mother of God wove the belt with her own hands and handed it to the Apostle Thomas on the eve of her death. One part of the relic is kept in the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg, from where it was brought to Minsk.

Believers claim that the belt of the Virgin has miraculous properties - it heals from various diseases and helps childless spouses to conceive a child.

In addition, the relics of the Virgin Mary's parents - righteous Joachim and Anna - were brought to Minsk. The relics will stay in the cathedral until February 15.

However, the relics will not be taken away from Belarus after that - they can be seen in our country until April 3, the BOC informed.

After Minsk, the relics will go to the dioceses: February 17-19 - Turau, 20-23 - Homel, 24-26 - Babruisk, February 27 - March 1 - Mahiliou, March 2-4 - Barysau, 5-8 - Vitsebsk, 9-11 - Polatsk.

On March 11 at 16.00 the relic will be delivered to the Convent of the Saviour and St. Euphrosyne in Polatsk.

It will be possible to worship it on March 12-14 in the Maladzechna diocese, 15-17 - in Lida diocese, March 17 (from 16.00) to 21 (15.00) - in the Hrodna diocese, 21 (from 16.00) - in the Hrodna Nativity Monastery, 22-24 - in the Navahrudak diocese, 25-28 - in the Brest diocese, 29-31 - in the Pinsk diocese and April 1-3 - in the Slutsk diocese.
