First Deputy Chairman Of Brest Regional Executive Committee Disappears

Perhaps, he has been detained.

The name of the first deputy chairman Valiantsin Zaichuk has disappeared from the website of Brest Regional Executive Committee.

Indeed, Zaichuk is no longer listed in the Russian version of the site in the "Management" section. Although he can still be found in the Belarusian version, reports Zerkala.

There is no Zaichuk in the schedule of direct telephone lines, conducted by the leadership of the regional vertical. There's an empty space in the list of personal reception of citizens and representatives of legal entities for the first half of 2024 instead of the first deputy chairman's name.

The last mention of Zaichuk on the telegram channel of the regional vertical is dated January 10. That day he held a personal reception of citizens.

Valiantsin Zaichuk took the chair of the first deputy chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee on June 18, 2021. His appointment was agreed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka.

Zaichuk was in charge of agro-industrial complex and processing of agricultural products. Prior to his appointment to the high position in the regional executive committee, he was the head of Kamianets district. The official moved there from the chair of the first deputy chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Food of Brest Regional Executive Committee. Previously, Zaichuk worked in the Malaryta district executive committee.

We remind you that last November, the KGB detained the former general director of the Biaroza meat canning plant Uladzimir Zhukovich and founder of the LLC "Mittrade-Invest" Siarhei Orlikau in a corruption case. Deputy Interior Minister Hennadz Kazakevich then promised to "reach out to everyone" to stop criminal schemes in meat and milk processing, and announced new arrests and criminal cases.
