Tram Rams Trough Car In Minsk

Traffic police reminds drivers about an important traffic rule.

In the evening on Monday, March 11, a Volkswagen car crashed into a tram on Dauhabrodskaya Street. The traffic police of the capital showed footage from the scene of the accident.

According to the traffic police department of Minsk city executive committee, the accident occurred at about 17:30. A 30-year-old man was driving a Volkswagen. According to the preliminary data of the inspectors, he "failed to make sure that the manoeuvre was safe" and when turning to Dauhabrodskaya Street, he ended up right on the path of the tram, moving in the opposite direction.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the car was sent to hospital for examination. The traffic police did not report any injuries among the tram passengers.

In connection with this accident, the traffic police reminds drivers of the following immutable traffic rule:

"In places where tram tracks cross the carriageway, the tram has priority over other vehicles, except when leaving the depot and places where the order of movement is determined by road priority signs or traffic signals".
