Duda: Russia May Attack NATO Country As Early As 2026

Russian aggression must be stopped at any cost.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Russia may attack the North Atlantic Alliance in the coming years. RMF24 reports about this.

"Russia may soon have such a military potential that it will be able to attack NATO already in 2026-27," the Polish leader said.

In an interview with US television, the president defended his recent proposal to raise the required threshold for defence spending by NATO countries from 2 to 3 percent of GDP.

"From my point of view, this is a matter of common sense. New reports are emerging, and I recently saw a report by German experts, according to which it is possible that already at the turn of 2026 and 2027 Putin, having switched his economy to military rails, will have such a military potential (...) that he will be able to attack NATO," Duda stressed.

According to him, there are about 2-3 years before Russia attacks NATO, the Polish leader called it a wake-up call and during this time the Alliance needs to step up efforts, stockpile ammunition, produce weapons, improve European capabilities and prepare for an invasion in such a way that it does not happen.

"This Russian aggression must be stopped at all costs. If it is not stopped, it will roll over to other territories, and then I am afraid that American money will not be enough to stop Russia, American troops will have to be brought in, and nobody wants that," the head of state said.

At the same time, Duda added that "every dollar donated in support of Ukraine, every Bradley given to Ukraine, every weapon given to Ukraine, every box of artillery ammunition given to Ukraine, distances the spectre of the Russian victory."
