Syrsky On Zaluzhny's Resignation: There Are Good Reasons

It happened during the active phase of the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had reasons to replace the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. If it happened during the active phase of the war, the reasons were good.

This was stated by AFU Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky in an interview with Ukrinform.

"The military have one duty - we do not discuss orders, we fulfil them. So if the President of the country, the supreme commander-in-chief, had reasons for such a replacement, especially during the active phase of the war - it means that these reasons are good," said Syrsky.

The AFU commander-in-chief added that he had been working with Valery Zaluzhny since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion and even earlier.

"I can say that all our knowledge and all the experience gained already during the full-scale war in battles with superior enemy forces will be aimed at increasing the effectiveness of our actions and the maximum defeat of the enemy strike groups," he explained.

Syrsky added that the military leadership is working out algorithms for the functioning of military management bodies at all levels. This involves detailed, thorough planning of actions, taking into account the needs of the front.

"Our headquarters must know all the needs of the front, without exception, and know the situation on each of its sections. The qualification of officers belonging to the military management bodies comes to the forefront in this," the AFU commander-in-chief said.

Syrskyy confirmed that the composition of the AFU General Staff and other military bodies was renewed with combat officers with practical experience.

Zaluzhny's Resignation

We remind you that on February 8, the AFU commander-in-chief, Valery Zaluzhny, who had been leading the army since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, resigned. The commander of the AFU Ground Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, was appointed in his place.

The next day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded former AFU commander-in-chief Zaluzhny and head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov the title of Hero of Ukraine.

Later, it became known that President Volodymyr Zelensky had approved Zaluzhny's candidacy for the post of ambassador to Britain.
