'One Bullet Went Through Stomach, Second One Hit Joint'

Details of the attempted assassination of Prime Minister Fico have been revealed in Slovakia.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was assassinated on the afternoon of May 15, is in hospital, the doctors have already finished operating on him. The operation was allegedly successful and there is no threat to his life.

This was said by Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Tomas Taraba, whose words are quoted by BBC Newshour. According to the politician, Fico "is no longer in a life-threatening condition".

"Fortunately, as far as I know, the operation went well. I think he will survive in the long run ... He is not in a life-threatening situation at the moment," he said.

Taraba also said that Fico was shot "at very close range". The prime minister, he said, was badly wounded - one bullet went through his stomach and the other hit a joint.

"He was immediately taken to hospital and then to surgery," the politician added.

We remind you that on Wednesday, May 15, there was an assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico. He received a gunshot wound in Handlova.

The 71-year old writer Juraj Cintula was detained on suspicion of an attempt on Fico. According to media reports, the man fired from a "short-barreled shotgun, which he legally had".
