Belarus Sends More Troops To Border With Ukraine

These are additional air defense forces and assets.

Belarus is sending additional air defense forces and assets “to designated areas to cover the southern borders, as well as critically important facilities.” This was stated by the Chief of the Anti-Aircraft Missile Troops Directorate of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces Command Andrei Seviarynchyk. According to him, this is due to a “sharp increase” in the number of drones in the border area.

“Recently, we have recorded a sharp increase in the number of flights of unmanned aerial vehicles conducting reconnaissance in the border areas of the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The situation in the airspace is tense. There is a constant violation of the State border in the airspace of our state,” the press service of the Ministry of Defense quotes him as saying.

He announced “an accumulation of air defense forces in the Zhytomyr region”.

“In order to ensure the detection of aircraft in the airspace of our country, additional reconnaissance forces and assets have been built up. (…) Radar reconnaissance is carried out by the forces of the radio-technical troops in close cooperation with the electronic warfare units (…). The system of visual observation posts has also been expanded for one purpose — to provide information to the fire units of the anti-aircraft missile forces and air defense forces of the operational commands on combat duty. For this purpose, air defense forces and assets have been additionally withdrawn to designated areas to cover the southern borders, as well as critically important facilities of the Republic of Belarus,” Seviarynchyk said.

The day before, the State Border Committee announced the presence of the “Russian Volunteer Corps” in the area of responsibility of the Zhitomir border detachment, claiming also that reconnaissance flights of Ukrainian drones along the border with Belarus occurred, and a cache of “components for making improvised explosive devices” was found in the same direction. Today, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus announced “growing tensions” and “passages for sabotage and reconnaissance groups” on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.
