Israel Clarifies New Entry Rules For Belarusians

Israel Clarifies New Entry Rules For Belarusians

They will take effect on August 1.

The Consular Service of the Embassy of Belarus in Israel explained the new rules for the entry of Belarusians into the country. From August 1, they will have to pay for permission to visit Israel, regardless of the purpose of the trip. At the same time, as assured by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, there is no talk of abolishing the visa-free regime between the two countries.

In accordance with the agreement concluded between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the State of Israel, a visa-free regime has been in force between the two countries since November 2015. Belarusians are allowed to enter Israel once or repeatedly and leave the country, as well as transit and stay in the country without a visa for 90 days (every 180 days).

However, from August 1, 2024, Belarusians, along with other foreigners, will have to obtain permission to enter the country from the Population and Immigration Registration Authority of Israel ETA-IL for foreign citizens. This requirement of the authorities became mandatory after the introduction of a new system of prior notification and obtaining an entry permit in the country.

According to the Consular Service of the Belarusian Embassy, during July Belarusians can apply for a permit absolutely free of charge. However, as early as August 1, 2024, the "test period" will end and when applying for ETA-IL, you will have to pay 25 shekels (a little more than 20 rubles in equivalent for today). It is assumed that the permit obtained from the Israeli authorities will be valid for two years (or until the expiration of the national passport – whichever comes first).

"According to official information received from the Israeli authorities, citizens of the Republic of Belarus can still travel to Israel without a visa for short-term trips (tourist, guest, business) and stay in the country for up to 90 days in each period of 180 days," the Foreign Ministry said.

For additional clarifications, the consular service recommended contacting the Israel Population and Immigration Registration Authority directly, where you can send a request by e-mail: eta@piba.gov.il), or contacting the Israeli Embassy in Belarus.
