AFU Launch Offensive In Vovchansk

Analysts revealed the details of the successful counterattack.

Ukrainian defence forces have carried out a successful counterattack in Vovchansk and regained control of a number of positions in the town. At the same time, the Russian occupants have limited success in the direction of the Liptsy settlement in Kharkiv Region. This is stated in a report by the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War note that according to geolocated footage published on June 2, Ukrainian forces have retaken positions along Dukhovna Street in the town centre. Additional geolocated footage published on June 3 shows fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces along this street, indicating a counterattack by Ukrainian forces to regain control of the area.

The ISW report also refers to a confirmed enemy advance north of Kharkiv in the direction of Liptsy. A geolocation video published on May 31 shows Russian forces continuing to advance towards buildings along Studencheska Street northwest of Hluboke (north of Liptsov).

‘Russia's key objective remains unchanged - to push Ukrainian forces away from the international border with Belgorod Region and to move closer to Kharkiv within range of barrel artillery,’ analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) summarised.
