Why Regime's Contracts With Mongolia Are Under Threat

There are several important details.

Belarusian state media write about “major contracts” under which Mongolia will purchase equipment for the mining and processing and agricultural industries, as well as vehicles for the Ministry of Emergency Situations, from Belarus.

They state that the main advantages of the deal are the price-quality ratio of the offered equipment, and the advantage over competitors in service. But there are many points that call these contracts into question, writes a reader of the Charter97.org website:

— Belarusian equipment was relatively high-quality before the sanctions were introduced. Now, when Western components have been replaced with Russian and Chinese ones, the quality has become questionable. For example, automobile and agricultural equipment often spontaneously combust.

Both countries have more loans than real money. And the largest creditors are the Russian Federation and China, with whose equipment the Lukashenka supporters want to compete. And Belarus, located six thousand kilometers from Mongolia, will not be able to provide proper service.

Mongolia will hold parliamentary elections next week. Voters are outraged by corruption scandals and the ruling Mongolian People's Party's chances of winning are highly questionable. And the opposition that replaces them will be reluctant to cooperate with the war-tainted Lukashenka, whose visit they opposed.
