WSJ: ‘Deadly Summer’ Lies Ahead For Russia And Ukraine

The occupiers do not have enough troops to attack Kharkiv.

Despite the fact that in the near future it is unlikely that any side will be able to achieve a decisive turning point on the battlefield, this year Ukraine and Russia will face a “deadly summer” on the front.

At the same time, the task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the near future is to hold positions with the help of new Western weapons, according to the article in The Wall Street Journal.

Journalists come to the conclusion that Russia's approach will not change in the near future — the Russian occupation command will continue to sacrifice a large number of people in order to achieve small successes.

At the same time, the occupiers do not have enough troops for a major offensive on Kharkiv. And if forces are transferred there from other directions, this will lead to a weakening of the corresponding sections of the front.

It is specified that in conditions when the front line is almost not advancing, Kyiv and Moscow are trying to gain an advantage on the eve of winter by carrying out deep strikes. At the same time, the Russian Federation is striking at the energy sector in the rear and at the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front with the help of gliding air bombs. And Ukraine is attacking the temporarily occupied Crimea with the help of long-range US missiles, realizing that it has little chance of achieving anything more in the coming months.

“While Russia is still achieving certain successes on the battlefield, it seems that the Ukrainians are quite strategically competent in striking and moving, and keeping themselves in check,” a high-ranking Pentagon representative commented on the situation.

In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were able to form enough forces to replenish losses and some reserves. In addition, at the beginning of a major offensive, they are usually needed several times more.
