U.S. sanctions will have a serious impact on Russia.
US President Donald Trump said that in six months it will be possible to see whether US sanctions will affect Russia.
Trump announced this during a speech at the White House.
When asked by a reporter whether Vladimir Putin was wrong when he claimed that Russia was not subject to U.S. sanctions and that there would be no serious impact on the Russian economy, Trump replied:
"I'm glad he thinks so. That's a good thing. I'll let you know in six months. We'll see how it plays out."
Russian publication Kommersant quoted Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. He said that the new US sanctions allegedly will not significantly affect the Russian economy.
"Yes, they (sanctions - ed.) are serious for us, of course, it is clear. And they will have certain consequences, but they will not have a significant impact, especially on our economic well-being," Putin boasted.
He specified that the U.S. sanctions will have a bad effect on Russian-American relations. Putin also complained that it was an unfriendly act and an attempt to pressure Russia.
US sanctions against Russia
On the night of October 23, US Finance announced new sanctions against Russia to force dictator Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table with Ukraine.
The restrictions include Russian giant companies Rosneft and Lukoil, as well as a large number of their subsidiaries.
In addition, on October 23, the European Union approved a new package of sanctions against Russia. It stipulates that from 2027 the bloc will completely stop imports of Russian LNG.
